National Popular Vote
The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is an agreement among states to award their electoral votes to the candidate who wins the most votes nationwide, instead of the winner in each state. It takes effect once enough states join to reach 270 electoral votes.
This ensures the presidency reflects the national popular vote, making every vote count equally regardless of where it’s cast and reducing the outsized influence of a few swing states.
