Vision

The Activism Network envisions a world where every person thrives, supported by a society that values human well-being above all. We are committed to ending needless suffering and uplifting individuals by addressing urgent crises, systemic issues, and promoting human rights, dignity, and equity for all.

Mission

We believe that We the People have endured far too much suffering from preventable and solvable issues. TAN advocates for a world where humanity is prioritized over profit, creating systems that benefit the many, not just the few.

History

The Activism Network began as a grassroots movement, where discussions about systemic issues in American society sparked the creation of a collective community. What started as conversations grew into a vibrant Discord network, where members collaborated on initiatives ranging from gardening to political action.

From there the community created a document of our collective values, and thus, The Declaration of Virtues (DOV) was born. Evolving from an earlier document, A Moral Doctrine for a Better Future, the DOV underwent weeks of deliberation and amendments before its unanimous approval on June 8, 2024.

On August 10, 2024, TAN took its next bold step forward when members voted to incorporate as a nonprofit. We are now in the final stages of incorporating as a nonprofit, united under a shared purpose: building a better, more equitable world through collective action.

Story

TAN focuses on eight pillars that represent critical areas for systemic change to create a human-centered world:

1. Social Justice & Human Rights
   Every person deserves to live free from needless suffering, with universal access to basic needs like shelter, food, and clean water. Beyond this, we believe in the inalienable right to self-determination. This includes abolishing child labor, criminalizing child marriage, and ending exploitation; fostering dignity, freedom, and security for all.

2. Health & Well-Being
   Quality, affordable healthcare is a human right. TAN supports comprehensive universal healthcare, where no one goes into crippling debt for medications or treatment. Additionally, our food should contain real, whole ingredients, that are healthy and safe to consume. Our food and water should be free from microplastics, harmful dyes, additives, and known carcinogens.

3. Environment & Energy
   Our planet is our only home. Regardless of intentions, systemic destruction of the only planet that humans can live on is a direct attack on humanity itself. While humanity continues to grapple with climate change, we will not take a back seat and idly sit by while we watch corporations burn the world, and our politicians allow it to happen. 

4. Social Services
   Every individual, regardless of their social class or financial status, faces hardships, and everyone deserves support in these times. TAN champions universal access to basic needs and resources, From affordable housing and internet access, to quality education, and mental health support. No one should be left behind in times of struggle.

5. Infrastructure
   Our roads, bridges, water systems, electrical systems and more from the top down continue to be neglected. To that we say no more. TAN supports repairing unsafe roads, replacing lead pipes, expanding public transit, building national high-speed rail, and creating walkable, human-centered cities.
   

6. Prison & Military Reform
   TAN seeks to end mass incarceration, eliminate for-profit prisons, and abolish the death penalty nationally. We advocate for prison reform focused on rehabilitation rather than reincarceration. In terms of military reform, TAN believes the US should not be the world's "police", and instead reinvest military funds into supporting the citizens it is meant to protect.
   

7. Political Reform
   Governments must serve the people, not the interests of the wealthy.
   Today, too many politicians and government officials are influenced by PACs, corporate interests, and financial elites. TAN stands firmly against insider trading, lobbying, and systemic corruption that prioritize corporations over the rights of everyday citizens. We advocate for transparency, fair representation, and policies that put power back in the hands of the people.
   

8. Freedoms 
   Personal freedoms are fundamental to a just, democratic society. TAN defends free speech, freedom of press, the right to protest, freedom of religion, privacy rights, and equality, and challenges systems that restrict these liberties.
